SUMMARY:Today I visited the Denali National Park and Preserve Visitors’ Center. They showed a map noting I could only drive the first 15 miles of the 66 miles to the Eielson Visitor Center because of a landslide at the Polychrome Overlook at mile 47. So, any bus tours have to turn around at Mile 47. I couldn’t resist driving to the Savage River Trailhead at Mile 15 and took photos of Mount Denali for hours! She was almost out of the fog, and it was so beautiful! I parked just off the Parks Highway and had a great spot to use my telephoto lens. I really wanted to see wildlife, so I had booked a wildlife tour last February.
