Left early and ran into heavy fog in the valley. Just before Liard Hot Springs, the Nordquist herd of wood bison were on the move. They looked so different from the plains bison I have seen in Custer State Park, SD, and Yellowstone. So, I took many photos to show the difference. The wood bison have large triangulated heads, bigger and more distinct shoulders, and less head hair. I was not aware bison can jump six feet and run 35 mph! I camped at the Downtown RV Park in Watson Lake for the night. Visited the Sign Forest. Then I saw the video presentations at the Northern Lights Centre. This made me more than ever want to film the aurora borealis. Hopefully at the end of August I will be able to do this! By the way, when I return to this area on my way home, I will definitely stop at the Watson Lake campground 4 km west of Watson Lake. The girls at the Visitor Center in Whitehorse said they may have loons here!
