My Van, My Home: Stepping Inside My Rolling Sanctuary

From Dream to Driveway: A Peek Inside My Custom-Built Haven on Wheels.

Hey Friends, welcome aboard!

For years, I dreamt of a home that could go wherever my wanderlust took me. And here she is! My beautiful Pleasure-Way Plateau TS isn’t just a mode of transport; it’s my cozy, custom-built sanctuary, perfectly crafted for life on the road and for me to see all the places I dreamed of visiting during a hectic work life. When I decided to embrace traveling in this manner during retirement, comfort, functionality, and a touch of hominess were my top priorities. I wanted a space where I could cook a good meal, relax with a book, and wake up to a new view every day.

Come on in, let me show you around!

The Grand Tour!

  • The Cockpit and Command Center: This is where the magic happens on the road! I’ve optimized it for long drives, with a comfortable seat, an easy-to-reach navigation system, and plenty of cupholders for that morning coffee. It’s my office, my studio, and my front-row seat to the world.
  • My Little Kitchenette: Who says you can’t cook gourmet on the road? My kitchen features an induction stove; a refrigerator and a large, separate freezer powered by electricity, battery power, and/or propane; a deep sink; and a microwave. The under-counter cabinets and overhead bins provide plenty of storage for food and all necessities. It’s amazing what delicious meals you can whip up with a little creativity and a stunning view! I’ll share some of my favorite van recipes soon.
  • The Sleep Oasis: After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than a comfortable bed. The convertible sofa becomes a queen-sized bed with a memory foam mattress, ample space, and a TV to keep track of the upcoming weather. Good sleep is crucial for awesome adventures!
  • Living and Lounge Space: This area transforms from my dining room to my reading nook to my planning station. I love the swivel seat of the passenger seat in front and an adjustable Lagun table for meals and navigation planning. It’s compact but incredibly versatile, perfect for relaxing or reviewing fantastic photos from each day!
  • Smart Storage Solutions: There is a place for everything, and everything is in its place! The cleverly designed overhead cabinets keep everything organized. I’ll show you my best hacks for maximizing space and keeping things organized in the future.
  • Powering My Adventures: All this comfort needs power! I rely on my Spyder monitor, which clearly advises solar, electric, and battery power balances, generator status, controls for hot and cold water, and black and gray storage tank values. It is a well-managed machine that allows me to do fun things, like navigation preparation, photography downloads and exports, and planning exciting excursions the next day.
  • My Absolute Favorite Feature: If I had to pick just one thing, it’s having my very own personal bathroom day and night. This convenient feature brings me so much joy and happiness.
