Buffalo Crossing signs are prevalent today! A must stop is the Tetsa River Services and Campground for a delightful cinnamon roll and coffee break! This is Historic Mile 375 on the Alaska Highway. Apparently, the Andrews family has been offering these services for three generations! Just after this stop I saw a sole Black Bear foraging for berries. The traffic is always horrific, so it is mandatory to move onto the shoulder, which is not very wide, in order to take photos. Shortly after that I saw a mama black bear eating berries while her three cubs were playing around the aspen trees. It was delightful, but as soon as I stopped, other campers stopped, and this increased activity chased the bears away. I was able to get a few photos. Then, on one of the bends to Muncho Lake, I saw a herd of about six stone sheep. It looked like they were licking salt off of the highway, and they were in a dangerous situation. I stopped, put flashers on, which stopped traffic in both ways, but it protected the stone sheep until they anxiously climbed back up the steep hill. Amazing to watch their speed as they climb up the hill. Arrived at the Northern Rockies RV Park for my deluxe beach camping spot #1! I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE! A favorite place to stay for sure.
