This morning, because there were no shuttle tickets available to see Lake Louise, I was at the parking lot there at 5:30 am. The parking lots for autos as well as RV’s were almost full by that time! It is necessary to walk to the ticket machines, pay for the ticket with license plate numbers, and then return the ticket to the dashboard of vehicle. The walk adjacent to Lake Louise is well worth the time. It was impossible to get coffee or food at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel due to the unrealistic long lines! I only saw a three-toed woodpecker on this hike. I have been surprised at the lack of birds identifiable with Merlin in Canada. The common raven seems to be the most common bird here!
